The WHD was first celebrated on May 2005 and has become an annual event ever since. WHD&#8217;s main goal is to promote mass awareness of hypertension. It also encourages citizens of all countries to prevent and control this silent killer, the modern epidemic.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The expanded theme for World Hypertension Day 2020 is <em><strong>&#8220;Measure Your Blood Pressure, Control It, Live Longer&#8221;<\/strong><\/em>, with a goal of increasing hypertension awareness in all populations around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">What exactly is Hypertension<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Hypertension is the fancy medical term for high blood pressure (BP). This means that the blood applies too much force against the walls of the blood vessels including arteries, capillaries and veins.
